Grant Will Fund Catholic Summer School Exhibit

NY Cliff Haven Catholic Summer SchoolThe Clinton County Historical Association (CCHA) has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership. The funds are expected to support the creation of an interactive digital exhibit highlighting the history of the Catholic Summer School in Cliff Haven, NY.

CCHA will partner with Roger Black, a local researcher of the Catholic Summer Schools of America, to provide historic interpretation of the Catholic Summer School in Cliff Haven. The Historical Association houses a large collection of photos related to the Cliff Haven Catholic Summer School from the early 20th century.

“The exhibit will treat the public to a touchscreen display, guiding the viewer through the exhibit,&#8221 CCHA Director and Curator Melissa Peck said.  &#8220It will be interactive and engaging for the audience, and will allow for the display of the large number of images that CCHA houses. This exhibit will not only serve the public but will also be used as a platform for new research.”

A digital, interactive exhibit that features touchscreen technology is scheduled to open this winter.

The project is funded by an agreement awarded by the United States National Parks Service (NPS) to the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission in partnership with the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership. NEIWPCC manages CVNHP’s personnel, contract, grant, and budget tasks and provides input on the program’s activities.

The Clinton County Historical Association is dedicated to collecting and preserving historical material pertaining to the history of Clinton County and to interpret and celebrate through exhibits and programs, the county’s history. CCHA is located at 98 Ohio Avenue on the Old Base in Plattsburgh, New York and is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am – 3 pm.
